The Perfect Day in MELAKA 🇲🇾 MALAYSIA’S Red City Malacca
Malaysians love MELAKA / MALACCA it has some of the best food in the country like asam pedas, laksa and the famous chicken rice balls.
First up, we'll visit Red Square, also known as Dutch Square, which features beautiful colonial buildings painted in bright shades of red. This is a popular spot for taking photos and learning about Melaka's past as a Dutch colony then colonized by the British.
Next, we'll head to Jonker Street Night Market, one of the most vibrant and colorful places in Melaka. Here you can find all sorts of souvenirs, street food, and local delicacies. If you're not interested in the market I recommend to visit Melaka on a weekday, as the crowds can get overwhelming on weekends.

This is Our FAVORITE City in Malaysia! 🇲🇾 Melaka Travel Vlog
After arriving in Melaka and spending our first evening trying delicious Malaysian street food at the Jonker Street Night Market, we woke up early with plans to explore the historic part of the city - but the weather had other plans.
When the rain finally ended, we grabbed some refreshing coconut ice cream and took pictures at the iconic Kheil's Heritage Building before heading to the Dutch Square to learn more about the historic maroon-colored buildings and unique architecture from years of Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonization.
After walking along the riverfront for a while, we found ourselves in Little India, where the smell of beautiful flowers and delicious food had us wanting to book plane tickets to India. On our way back to the city center, we came across a couple of beau...

MELAKA, MALAYSIA - Malaysian Food Tour!
Melaka (also sometimes spelled Malacca) is a beautiful city in southern Malaysia, significant in history, packed with delicious food, and again, like most of Malaysia, a melting pot of cultures, peoples and foods.
Here’s what we ate in this food tour of Melaka, Malaysia:

The rice is cooked with chicken broth like most chicken rice, but instead of just a plate of rice, you get little fish ball shaped rice balls, along with chicken. It’s an iconic dish, but it’s pretty delicious ...

Speaking of food, we'll show you where to find the best breakfast in Melaka: Chicken Rice Balls. This unique dish is a must-try and can be found at several restaurants in town.
For a second breakfast, we'll take you to Jonker 88, a popular Peranakan eatery known for its Nyonya Assam Laksa, a spicy and tangy noodle soup that's considered the best laksa in Melaka.
After some more sightseeing, we'll visit Masjid Kampung Kling, a beautiful mosque with a mix of Malay, Chinese, and Indian architectural styles.
If you need a break from the heat, we'll take you to one of the many amazing Melaka coffee shops called the Daily Fix, where you can enjoy a refreshing cold coffee and some snacks.
Next, we'll hop on the Melaka River Cruise, a relaxing boat ride that takes you along the scenic Melaka River and past some of the city's most iconic landmarks.
Finally, we'll visit the Church of St. Paul, a historic church perched on a hilltop that offers stunning views of the city.
And of course, we can't leave Melaka without trying one of its most famous dishes: Assam Pedas. This spicy and sour fish stew is actually from Sumatra, Indonesia, but has become a beloved dish in Melaka.

On our way back to the city center, we came across a couple of beautiful Chinese temples. We rounded out our day in Melaka the best way we knew how; on a riverboat cruise through the colorful city.
Our first impressions of Melaka were great, and we fell in love with the city, but we would love to know your thoughts! Please let us know if you enjoyed this video by giving it a like, and consider saying hello in the comments. 🥰

Melaka or also often spelled as Malacca, is one of Malaysia’s most important centers of history. Melaka has been an important trading hub due to its location along the spice route. Due to this attractive location, many traders from India, China, Portugal, Netherlands and Arabia came to this port to buy and sell their goods. The traces of all these peoples can be found up to today and thus, it does not surprise one by seeing temples, churches and mosques in the same street. Today, Melaka is one of the most visited towns in Malaysia, by locals, Singaporean and Chinese tourists. The great attractivity of Melaka arises from its many historical buildings, street markets and Peranakan culture. The latter form a unique ethnic group, as they are the descendants of Chinese traders, who intermarried with Malay women. Therefore, visiting some of their museums, as well as trying their cuisine is highly recommended. In the list below you find some of my suggested places that I did not show in the video:
- Melaka Sultanate Palace
- Kampung Hulu Mosque
- Sababa Gallery (Selfie Museum)
- St Francis Xavier Church
- Taming Sari Tower
- Cheng He Museum
- Masjid Cina Melaka
How to reach Melaka:
- Take a bus from Kuala Lumpur (tickets are usually very cheap, 3h ride)
- Take a bus from Johor Bahru (3h ride)
Music from Epidemic Sound by:

MELAKA, MALAYSIA - Malaysian Food Tour!
Melaka (also sometimes spelled Malacca) is a beautiful city in southern Malaysia, significant in history, packed with delicious food, and again, like most of Malaysia, a melting pot of cultures, peoples and foods.
Here’s what we ate in this food tour of Melaka, Malaysia:
Kedai Kopi Chung Wah - One of the foods you have to eat in Melaka is Hainanese chicken rice balls. The rice is cooked with chicken broth like most chicken rice, but instead of just a plate of rice, you get little fish ball shaped rice balls, along with chicken. It’s an iconic dish, but it’s pretty delicious and makes a wonderful breakfast.
Total price - 29 MYR ($7.12)
Asam Pedas Pak Man - Asam pedas is sour spicy, and you’ll find variations of it across much of Southeast Asia, but Melaka is quite famous for it within Malaysia. We went to Asam Pedas Pak Man, a stall set up within a local Malaysian food court. I ordered a variety of different plates, each asam pedas but with a different fish. All were spectacular. It looks extremely spicy, but it’s not actually all that spicy, however it is extremely tasty and full of herbs and chilies and flavor. Best Malaysian food dish of the day in Melaka for me.
Total price - 75 MYR ($18.39)
Klebang Original Coconut Shake - This was pretty ordinary for me, nothing spectacular, but again it’s one of those things most people try in Melaka.
Total price - 9.90 MYR ($2.43)
Ban Lee Siang Satay Celup - Next up, satay celup, a unique Melaka style satay where you choose your own skewers and boil them in the sauce right in the middle of your table. For me honestly, satay celup is too sweet, but I have to admit it’s a lot of fun to eat and cook, and very social.
Total price - 34 MYR ($8.34)
Ikan Bakar Haji Masu - Finally to end this Malaysian food tour in Melaka (Malacca), we went to a seafood, ikan bakar (grilled fish) restaurant. There are quite a few huge seafood restaurants in Melaka, but I wanted one that was kind of small and laid back. Ikan Bakar Haji Masu was fantastic, and I think the best thing was their grilled fish.
Total price - 99 MYR ($24.27)
Thank you for watching this Malaysian food tour in Melaka. It’s an amazing city to visit when you are in Malaysia.

Sebut Melaka semua ada
kota pelancongan sudah ternama
Pantai menarik budayanya cantik
Ada yang datang dan tak mahu balik
Ada bermacam macam hiburan
Dari cak kun chak kedondang sayang
Medan berpantun orang Melaka
Ada kelakau bergurau senda
Orang Melaka semua baik
Walau pun nampak sedikit pelik
Bila bertemu tegur nya kasau
Itu semua hanya bergurau
Kalau datang ke Negeri Melaka
Jangan risau nak tidur mana
Hotel ada homestay tersedia yang penting pasti tak tidur dalam kereta
Cubalah makan
Asam pedas orang Melaka
Makan sekali
Tiga bulan hai tak lupa
KuIh keria
Coconut shake hai popular
Minuman baru hai
Resepi negeri selat
Negeri Melaka negeri hebat
Kota Pelancungan Negeri selat

Sebut Melaka semua ada
kota pelancongan sudah ternama
Pantai menarik budayanya cantik
Ada yang datang dan tak mahu balik
Ada bermacam macam hiburan
Dari cak kun chak kedondang sayang
Medan berpantun orang Melaka
Ada kelakau bergurau senda
Orang Melaka semua baik
Walau pun nampak sedikit pelik
Bila bertemu tegur nya kasau
Itu semua hanya bergurau
Kalau datang ke Negeri Melaka
Jangan risau nak tidur mana
Hotel ada homestay tersedia yang penting pasti tak tidur dalam kereta
Cubalah makan
Asam pedas orang Melaka
Makan sekali
Tiga bulan hai tak lupa
KuIh keria
Coconut shake hai popular
Minuman baru hai
